Okay, so Christmas isn't my favourite time of year, but i've never understood how it could be anybody's favourite holiday. The whole thing is over-hyped, over-priced and over before you know it! But the thing I can't stand the most is the enforced jollity thrusted upon me. I am told that i am miserable at work because of my loathing for Christmas, but the only reasons they give me for liking it aren't reasons i want to hear; e.g "you get to spend time with your family!" or "it's a time to reflect". First of all, I spend time with my family all the year round, and they are just as miserable as I am, and second of all I am a constant thinker so having time to reflect doesn't have to fall into the time slot i've apparently been given to do my annual stock take. I do it all the time!
But now Chritmas is being watered down, people are forced to forget the religious element of it and focus on the generics. Christmas is a time for presents and drinking, not a time for celebration of the birth of some guy who according to some healed sick people and could walk on water.
Come to think of it, let Chritmas become more and more of a generic holiday and people will care less and less about it. Who knows, within the next few decades Christmas could be forgotted about all together! I can only hope...
Happy Holidays!
